In this course, we delve into the principles and application of the Shang Han Lun, the representative medical text for Liu jing (six warp) diagnosis, from an acupuncture perspective. While often considered a herbal text, the Shang Han Lun’s principles extend to every method of Chinese medicine, including acupuncture. We explore how the Liu jing incorporates the Jing luo (channels and collaterals) as the main vantage point in acupuncture practice. Understanding the essence of the Shang Han Lun enables practitioners to apply a variety of treatment perspectives, such as Orthodox and Tung acupuncture, onto its underlying framework.
The Shang Han Lun holds significant clinical importance in diagnosing and treating complex modern conditions. Its timeless understanding of physiology and pathology has influenced generations of Chinese medicine practitioners. Join Professor Ivan Zavala Lac, DCCM, as he dissects the framework of the Shang Han Lun and explores the clinical acupuncture strategies derived from both Orthodox and Tung-based traditions.
